Launched in February, 2016, the

Hills Fabric and Craft De-Stash

Is now a regular event for people who love to sew, knit, craft, scrapbook, paint, bead, quilt and even horde to come and check out fabrics, goodies galore and have a chat, and clear out their crafting supplies.

Due to popular demand, we now host regular events every three months. And sometimes even sooner, as we are looking at down south, the bush, up north and more.

The next one is on the 10th February (bookings) ,19th May (bookings) ,11th August (bookings) at The Connection Centre (1470 Stoneville rd) in Mundaring, and then in Claremont on the 20th October (bookings) what awesome spots to be, loads of parking, shade for summer and room for expansion, see you all there.

Bookings can be made via trybooking for the Mundaring and Claremont events.

We had 50 sellers at the last one and room to expand ,yes we are using the entire building now, and buyers you amazed us all, with over 500 through the door, and even ran out of  parking spaces.

Times have changed to an earlier opening of 9.30am and closing of 2pm due to the weather.

We also have a scissor sharpening service available on the day, so bring your dressmaking scissors, kitchen scissors, hairdressing scissors, kitchen knives and secateurs along to be done.

Food is now available from each venue aand yes tea/coffee as well.

I am always looking at new venues, and yes some are fabulous so let me know if you find one you think will work.

Mundaring has been a hit since the beginning and continues to amaze me with the generosity of the patrons who come along, the gorgeous sellers and the knowledge that they pass onto others, the help they show for each other.

Mundaring will be continuing for as long as possible, and all other venues will be explored as well.

Food and Drink and a great spot to sit will also be available.

Let us know if you need acrod parking and we shall keep an eye on the bays so you get a spot, and we will make sure a few chairs are scattered around the venue as well so you can take a breather.

Claremont our new home, how lucky are we to get to use a building at Claremont Showgrounds, and just think how big we could get as there is room for expansion.

Parking at the venue…

Hills Fabric and Craft De-Stash

We are proud and proud of you all in your help with collecting for some amazing groups.

We are collecting amazing cottons for Wrapped In Love a local group that make  superhero capes, blankets and hair wraps for the children being treated on the oncology ward at Princess Margaret Hospital in WA, so kid fabric, cottons, and even your time helps.

We also collect fabrics for the Boronia Pre-Release Centre, cotton fabrics with aboriginal print is the best for this group, and we are starting to get a great collection coming in to help them.

Comfort Quilts For Cancer are another group that we love having attend our day,  they love to have donated cotton fabric and thread and even the 3kg postage bags to get the quilts out to those in need. Comfort Quilts against Cancer is a non-profit organisation whose members embroider and patchwork colourful quilts for breast cancer patients in regional areas.

Red Cross is our latest addition and they have  agroup called “The Womens Morning Tea” that is a monthly program for isolated and vunerable migrant women, including some who are asylum seekers awaiting the outcome of their refugee visa applications. The program aims to create a safe, supportive and creative space where the women can meet, socialise and create a craft they can take home. So please donate any fabric, beads, ribbon, patterns, working machines or craft tems you may have.

If you belong to a group that needs help collecting fabrics, beading or similar, please let me know and we will see what we can do to help.

Events upcoming:

The Hills Fabric and Craft De-Stash was created to allow Western Australian sewers, crafters, knitters, scrapbookers, painters, artists, jewellery makers and fabric lovers to come together all to share and trade supplies, all under one roof.
With an average of 50 sellers and over 300- 700 buyers attending events, the De-Stash also allows the crafting community to build friendships and go home inspired.

What is a De-Stash?

The top definition according to Urban Dictionary is
“To sell or trade your existing crafting supplies or ‘stash’ to allow a crafter to buy different, often newer, materials.”
So if you are thinking – “I’m done with knitting, so want to destash my yarn to make way for my new hobby, sewing”; or
“My latest projects are all focussed on using block colours so all my floral fats are just gathering dust”; or
“I really don’t need 5 sewing machines, 8 cutters and 3 overlockers, I should really look at selling a couple,”
then the Hills Fabric and Craft De-stash is the event for you.

So come along with your unwanted fabric crafting supplies and make some space in your cupboard for all those lovely new craft items that keeping calling you.

How lovely is this, we as a group that came together to de-stash our goodies have helped others out at the same time. We have recieved a thank you letter from Boronia Pre Release Centre for our donation of aboriginal print fabrics, beautiful work ladies and gents (yes we had some of them around as well).

Lets see what we can do this time around, can we collect more for them or for another group in need of help.
